Island Issues & Responsibilites
1. Housekeeping: There is no housekeeping service and you are responsible for leaving the Cabin clean for the next renters.
2. Guests are responsible for bringing their own TOWELS & SHEETS/Duvet covers. There is a queen bed, full bed, and twin bed. The sofa opens to a queen size bed. There are plenty of pillows and Duvets but here is no laudry service on the Island.
3. Water: The cabin is on a water pump system using the St-Lawrence River water. This system gives excellent running water both hot & cold, but the mineral content in the water is high and improper for drinking use (during a drought, the water may have an odor)
We have a Hinckley Springs bottled water cooler that conveniently holds 5 gallons of pure water (approximately 18.9-liters) at a time. 5 gallons bottles can be purchased nearby at the Wellesley Island Building Supply address: W44482 County Road 191, Wellesley Island, NY 13640 tel: (315) 482-6600
4. Septic: The toilette is on a septic system. The septic system is very effective; however, it will clog up if improper material or too much toilette paper is flushed. DO NOT FLUSH anything other than septic approved toilet paper specially labeled as “septic safe”. No feminine products should be flushed at any time. If it is found that feminine products or any other improper materials have been flushed and clog the septic system, you will be charged damages for the cost of purging and repairing the whole system.
5. Garbage disposal: Garbage dump is located a mile past Frontenac in Clayton, NY.
Website: http://townofclayton.com/transfersite.htm. We do not recommend dumping your garbage at the
state park, because if you get caught, you will be fined.
6. Use of Charcoal Grill:
Fire is the most destructive force on an Island. Please have a fire extinguisher near the grill or the water hose. Also, please place the grill in a safe location like on the dock. Make sure there isn't anything (cabin, trees, etc.) in that space. Also make sure that the grill isn't going to require people to walk too close to hot surfaces and children won't be playing nearby.
